Opening November 6th - Non*Mart, designs for a post-consumer planet
Holiday Stop-n-Swap Non*Mart celebrated the holidays with a day-long event of creative community - encouraging people to make connections instead of consuming junk. The Holiday Stop-n-Swap brought Non*Mart artists and visitors together for an afternoon of artmaking and trading. Special Stop-n-Swap Events ran throughout the day and included: Non*Mart art making stations

  • Steve Green demonstrated a Modern Art Making Kit showing visitors how to create small works of enduring and long-lasting beauty using simple materials.

  • Johnna Arnold hosted a Screenprinting Station where she walked people through the slikscreening process and helped visitors adron old tee-shirts, tote bags, etc., with a cool Bay Bridge on ramp pattern.

  • Anthony Ryan worked with people to create Polyhedra patterns and 3D models He also showed how to create a pattern kit of your own. Math geeks unite!
  • Francesca Pastine demonstrated her delicate art of Paper cutting transforming useless catologs and magazines into art.

  • Greg Lowe's Transformational Portrait Booth gave people an opportunity to transform their faces and and strike a stylish pose.

  • Co-founder Sasha Petrenko lead a Bourbon vs. Rum-ball Taste-off and Workshop. Visitors brought in an ingredient from the recipe list and learned how to make rum and bourbon balls in exchange.

  • Dianne Romaine shared delicious treats with visitors for her
    Chocolate Eating Project.

    After eating chocolates, the candy wrappers were transformed into tiny sculptures.
  • The Non*Mart Recipe Swap celebrated gourmands by giving people the chance to share favorite mouthwatering recipes with fellow Non*Mart visitors.
Dym Product’s Logo Removal Service. Visitors brought in items with unsightly logos
and Miriam replaced them with colorful remnamts. Alison Pebworth also returned to continue sharing her Personal Travel Guide collecting stories about sites or curiosities that made an impact on Non*Mart visitors in exchange
for a hand drawn map. Marksearch's Seed Swap rolled their seed cart out in front of the gallery to share a
bounty of seeds with passers-by.
exciting NEW items were up for trade in the Non*Mart shop including: Lisa Brown's Reclaimed Wreckage Items
Lisa fashions durable bags, wallets and pouches out of reclaimed materials such as blown bicycle tires and old bilboards. Theyr'e unisex and eco-friendly. Non*Mart co-founder Kathryn Kenworth included her Tissue Toppers - hand made covers you can use to hide those unappealing commercial prints that decorate mos ttissue boxes.
